This is the largest judgment of its kind in the history of the Rio Grande Valley.
The case, argued in front of US District Judge Micaela Alvarez, centered around a homeowners insurance claim stemming from property damages sustained from Hurricane Hanna in July 2020 that was wrongfully denied by Meridian Insurance.
Palker Law Firm stepped in to represent the policyholder and, after a hotly contested trial, was able to secure the record-breaking judgment to fully compensate their client to fix their home as well as secure treble damages after the court found that Meridian Insurance knowingly engaged in unfair and deceptive trade practices among other damages and fees.
